Lee Sousa

Education: BA in Psychology and Sociology; MS in Counselor Education

Specialties: PTSD, Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, Stress Management

Lee Sousa is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Additionally, he is certified to provide supervision services for associate-level clinicians seeking full licensure for LCMHC in North Carolina. Completed certification for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) through the North Carolina Child Treatment Program (NCCTP).

Lee has lived in Eastern Carolina since 2022. He has lived in North Carolina throughout his life around the Charlotte area. He received a Master’s in Science for Counselor Education from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. He has experience working with most age groups, including children, adolescents, and adults with mental health and/or co-occurring conditions.

How Lee practices is borrowed heavily from his athletics experience. This includes 20+ years of competitive swimming and several years of collegiate and age-group coaching for the sport. From a strengths-based approach, Lee takes value in learning each individual’s strengths and interests when it comes to developing effective person-centered skills. Lee aims to take a team approach to mental wellness and will work with you to accomplish your goals, making you feel empowered and confident in your mental wellness journey.

Meghan Respess

Meghan has 11 years of professional work experience in the mental wellness and counseling field. Meghan graduated from East Carolina University in 2006 with a Family and Community Services degree. She worked in community mental health with both children and adults for several years before returning to East Carolina University to obtain a Masters in Social Work. She graduated in 2011 and then pursued her LCSW. She has experience helping clients with stress and anxiety, parenting issues, motivation, self esteem, confidence, & depression. She also works with children and adults who deal with anger and impulse control. Meghan strives to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment.

Starr Odom

Starr offers in person or tele therapy services to children, adults and families. She offers a variety of therapy modalities to fit the clients needs. She values the therapeutic alliance and strives to meet clients where they are. She has experience working with with individuals struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, difficulty with new life transitions. She also has experience working with children and adults with ADHD and helping clients find ways to adapt and manage symptoms of ADHD. Starr has a passion for working with individuals during the perinatal period and individuals struggling with infertility. If you are struggling with symptoms of anxiety or depression during the perinatal period or as a parent, Starr would love to talk with you! Infertility, postpartum, and parenting can be lonely, but she would love to be a listening ear. She has experience working with individuals struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, difficulty with new life transitions, and children and adults with attention deficits.

I am passionate about working with neurodivergent adults. I am also passionate about working with clients through pregnancy and parenting. We all need a support system; I would be glad to be a part of yours. I value the therapeutic alliance and strive to meet clients where they are.

Alexis Askew

As a former Nonprofit Director and Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA), Alexis has worked closely with families, children, adolescents, and adults for the past four years. She provides compassionate care and support for special healthcare needs and in the mental health field. Alexis has extensive experience addressing autism, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and trauma. She is strongly dedicated to assisting individuals in navigating their mental health journeys.

Alexis provides a non-judgemental and safe space for you to express your thoughts and feelings. The mental health journey can be challenging, and Alexis is here to support you. She assists individuals and families with diverse concerns: PTSD/trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship stress, trauma, and life transitions. Alexis is here to be a calming center for you to feel comfortable breaking down barriers and processing growth.
